On October 9th around 4PM ET the official Twitter account for the upcoming arena style first person shooter: XDefiant, tweeted out that the game will be delayed.
This is unfortunate, but it is the right decision. With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (COD) having its beta running currently, and again next weekend, now was not the time. Right after the COD beta ends, Spider-man 2 releases on October 20th, then shortly after CODs full release on November 10th. While there is probably not a ton of player base crossover between Spider-man (SM) and First Person shooter players, SM2 is possibly the most anticipated game of 2023. COD’s player base, however, directly competes with XDefiant’s. I had an absolute blast with the XDefiant beta and while I am sad we have to wait, I will be pumped to finally get my hands on the full release. Ubisoft did not give a time frame for a new release date; I think it should be pushed into early 2024. This will give COD time to settle in, and people will know by early 2024 if COD is a game that they want to sink their time into.
