President and CEO of Sony Interactive entertainment, Jim Ryan, retires after 30 years

Wednesday evening the official PlayStation Twitter account tweeted out that long time president and CEO Jim Ryan will be retiring in March of 2024. Taking over, will be current COO and CFO Hiroki Totoki. Joining the company in 1987, Totoki has been with Sony for 36 years working his way up the ladder year by year. From Network communication to leading Sony’s mobile communications, Totoki has deep roots and a thorough understanding of Sony’s structure inside and out. The only question will be, can he connect with gamers worldwide and help push PlayStation to greater heights? PlayStation saw its ups and downs under Jim Ryan these last 30 years, but as PlayStation continues to dominate the console sales market, only Nintendo can compete, it’s safe to say that Ryan’s run was more then successful. There are big shoes to fill, but Totoki seems not only more than qualified, but has a 36-year understanding of Sony’s inner workings. I have faith in him and wish him the best of luck.
